Often times, we travel to new places and come home with an assortment of collected objects and memories that remain forever destined to obscurity. In this workshop we will explore how to translate these travel experiences into either handmade travel journal books or a series of individual works on paper. Document memories of conversations, meals eaten, walks taken and sights of Ireland that you will not want to forget. The breathtaking landscape and our excursions into the region will provide us with a bounty of inspirations. Exercises or "prompts" prior to outings will be given to allow you to see your new environment through an assortment of different lenses. Studio time will be devoted to learning new and innovative ways to organize and integrate these memorabilia and experiences using a variety of mixed media materials. The techniques and medium we will explore, including relief printing, photo image transferring, historical photo processing, watercolor painting and various forms of collage, will become our tools to create our personal works of art.
